We are looking to raise £30,000 as an initial drive to create a long overdue media channel in Edinburgh to support under represented artists and talent in the capital, and across Scotland.
We live in a cultural perversion, where the media is controlled by the ruling class, manipulating information to serve their own interests. This is by design.
For decades, Scottish culture has been filtered and shaped by Glasgow’s legacy media.
Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital, has no local media or broadcasting worthy of its status. This is no accident. The Evening News, once a staple for local residents, is now produced in Yorkshire, reduced to property porn, political propaganda, and shallow nostalgia. Its online counterparts—Edinburgh Live and The Edinburgh Reporter—are little more than incoherent clickbait-advertorials.Our cultural publications are dominated by post-graduate, middle-class snobs, intent on promoting each other’s pretentious excretions or the latest state-funded bourgeois drivel.
An entire city exists beyond these narrow boundaries.A wealth of untold stories, talent, and community—long ignored and underrepresented. We want to change this.
Help us build the independent media platform Edinburgh deserves.
WhatTheX is what MTV might look like if it were created in Scotland today. Broadcasting from the heart of Edinburgh and hosted by Bonnie Prince Bob, WhatTheX is an anarchic mix of music, art, and politics, offering a satirical critique on Scottish culture.
